飯田秀夫略歴
1952年東京生まれの著名な画家である飯田秀夫は、深遠な抽象絵画で高い評価を得ている。多摩美術大学美術学部美術学科卒業後、同大学院修士課程を修了。東京のギャラリー檜、日辰画廊、楡の木画廊などの一流ギャラリーで20数回以上の個展を開催。特筆すべきは、1992年と2018年に「たましん美術館」で大規模な展覧会が開催されたことである。『第18回現代日本美術展』や『第15回日本国際美術展』などのグループ展への参加は、その卓越性を際立たせている。キュレーターとして『第1回横浜−テキサス国際交流展2019』を企画し、2023年6月にはヒューストンのレッドバッド・アート・センターでの交流展を開催し国際的なアートとのつながりを深める。
ネパールでは、タラガオン美術館での『Japan4』(2018年) やギャラリーMcubeでの『Japan2』(2019年) 、さらに日本美術家連盟の助成を受け2022年と2024年にもギャラリーMcubeで個展を開催、彼の美術界における国際的な影響力を披露した。彼の絵画のうち数点は、ウィチタフォールズ美術館(米国・テキサス州)と「たましん美術館」のパーマネントコレクションに収蔵されている。
Hideo Iida Short Bio
Renowned artist Hideo Iida, born in Tokyo in 1952, is acclaimed for his profound abstract space paintings. With a B.A. and M.F.A. in Art from Tama Art University, Tokyo, he showcased more than 20 solo exhibitions at prestigious galleries like HINOKI, NISSIN, and NIRENOKI in Tokyo. Noteworthy large exhibits were held at the Tamasin Art Museum in 1992 and 2018. Iida's participation in group exhibitions of both the 18th Contemporary Japanese Art Exhibition and the 15th Japan International Exhibition, highlight his prominence. As a curator, he organized the 1st Crosscurrent Yokohama-Texas 2019 and organized the June 2023 exchange art show at the Redbud Art Center, Houston, furthering international artistic connections. In Nepal, he held exhibitions, Japan4 (2018) at Taragaon Museum, Japan2 (2019) at Gallery Mcube, in addition to solo exhibitions at Gallery Mcube in 2022 and 2024 with support from The Japan Artists Association, showcased his impact on the global art field.
Some of his paintings are in the permanent collection at Wichita Falls Museum of Art (Texas, U.S.) and Tamashin Art Museum in Japan.
The Concept of Space and My Art World
飯田秀夫は、学生時代にヨーロッパへの研修旅行で西洋美術に出会い、西洋美術に深く影響を受けました。現在は「空間」に対する日本人特有の感性に興味をそそられてきたアーティストです。この作品は、彼が若い頃に経験した日本の深遠な風景、特に奈良での神聖な感情との出会いに基づいています。最近では、近くの山々を散歩しているときに霧のかかった風景に触発されました。その経験をさらに発展させ、頭の中で見た「空間」を身近に描いた「森のささやき」シリーズを制作しました。西洋の風景画と伝統的な日本の水墨画を対比させながら、キャンバスに銀箔と和紙を重ね、頭の中で見た夢のような空間を創り出しています。彼の焦点は、風景をそのまま見せるのではなく、青春時代の思い出を彷彿とさせるような幽玄な空間を描くことです。
Hideo Iida was deeply influenced by Western art when he encountered it on a study trip to Europe as a student. He is now an artist who has been intrigued by the peculiar Japanese sensitivities to “space”. It is based on his encounter with the profound landscapes in Japan, especially in Nara where he experienced the sacred feelings as a young adult. Recently, he was inspired by misty sceneries during his walk through the nearby mountains. He further evolved that experience into his "Whispers of the Forest" series, which intimately depicts “space” seen in his mind. While contrasting the Western-style landscape paintings with traditional Japanese ink paintings, he layers of silver leaf and Japanese paper on a canvas to create dream-like spaces seen in his mind. His focus is to depict ethereal spaces as reminiscent memories of his youth instead of showing just a landscape as it is.
素材、技法 制作過程
飯田秀夫は、アクリル絵の具と顔料をキャンバスに筆やスキージで塗ることから始まる、重層的なプロセスを採用しています。銀箔を丁寧に貼り込み、水で磨き上げ、美しい表面の質を高めています。薄い和紙と紙ペーストを重ねることで、下層から見えてくる色や形が透けて見えることで、絵画の幻想的な奥行きを生み出しています。その結果、色と形の豊かな相互作用が、描かれた層と描かれていない余白全体に現れ、彼の作品に魅惑的な空間体験を確立しています。
Material, Techniques, Process
Hideo Iida employs the layering process in his art, beginning with applying acrylic paint and pigment onto a canvas with a brush and a squeegee. The silver leaf is meticulously added to the surface and is polished with water, enhancing the quality of the beautiful surface. Coating thin Washi paper and paper-paste allows colors and shapes on the bottom layer to be seen through and attributes to the delusional depth of his painting. As a result, the rich interplay of the colors and shapes emerges throughout the painted layers and the unpainted margins, establishing a captivating spatial experience in his artwork.
